Click for PDF version of requirement changes. For more information, visit the BSA Merit Badge page.

Summary:

Rank Requirements:  Star and Life
Eagle Palms: Scouts no longer have to wait three months between palms.

Eagle Scout

Eagle Scout Service Project, Rank Application, and other resources should be downloaded from the National Council Advancement Page in order to ensure the most up to date form is being used.

To get started, download the Eagle Project Workbook.

To generate the Eagle Scout Application, a Scout, parent, or adult leader of the unit can generate the application for the candidate in Scoutbook by going to that user, clicking Reports and then Eagle Application.

To download a blank, fillable the Eagle Scout Application, click the link to the left or button to the right.  On the page, under Rank Advancement, you will find the Eagle Scout Application for youth who completed requirements ON OR AFTER July 1, 2022.  You will also find the Request for Registration Beyond the Age of Eligibility (time extension) form and other related forms.

Time Extensions

Effective Jan. 1, 2021, local councils have the authority to grant limited extensions of time to complete Eagle, Quartermaster, or Summit requirements.  These extensions are available only to youth members who qualify under the three tests listed in the GTA 9.0.4.0 and associated form 11.2.0.0 published at www.scouting.org/advancement.

Citizenship in Society

INTRODUCTION:
BSA merit badges give Scouts opportunities to learn more about the world we live in and are earned through completing a series of guided activities and tasks. The new Citizenship in Society merit badge encourages Scouts to explore information on diversity, equity, inclusion, and ethical leadership, and learn why these qualities are important in society and in Scouting.
