COUNCIL LEADERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT
It is our pleasure to announce that Laurie Champion has been selected as the new Council President for the Michigan Crossroads Council, Boy Scouts of America. Laurie is the first female Council President to serve in this role since the formation of the Michigan Crossroads Council. As Council President, she will provide leadership to the volunteer Executive Board to focus and serve our communities youth, making Scouting a vibrant and relevant program and engaging volunteers to deliver the Scouting program in the lower peninsula of Michigan.
Laurie comes to this position with over 30 years of experience in risk management, corporate governance, and operational leadership. She currently serves as a Managing Director for Marsh McLennan where she advises clients and leads service teams in corporate risk management strategy and innovation.
For over 15 years, Laurie has served as a volunteer at the unit, district, council, and national levels. As a council board member, Laurie led the development of the council’s enterprise risk management framework while also providing leadership to membership development and engagement at the district, division, and council levels. She serves the national scouting organization in the areas of program safety and risk management, including service at the 2017 National Jamboree and 2019 World Scout Jamboree. She is the mother of an Eagle Scout.
Outside of Scouting, Laurie also serves on the Risk Management Foundation Board of Trustees for Georgia State University – J. Mack Robinson College of Business and on the faculty for Carnegie-Mellon Heinz School of Business.

MEET THE NEW COUNCIL COMMISSIONER
Tim currently serves the MCC as Dean of the College of Commissioner Science and has served Scouting in numerous ways at the Unit, District, Council levels including Scoutmaster, Venture Advisor, Committee Chair, District, and Council VP of Program. Tim holds a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Ferris State University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan-Flint, and his Doctor of Pharmacy from Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA.
In addition to being an Eagle Scout and James E. West Fellow, Tim has been awarded the Scoutmaster Award of Merit, the District Award of Merit, the Silver Beaver, Distinguished Commissioner Award, and recently awarded his Doctorate in Commissioner Science, and is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow.
Prior to his work in Scouting, he served as a Hospital Corpsman and Medical Service Corps Officer in the United States Navy, both Active and Reserve. He was named the Navy Reserve Pharmacist of the Year in 2007 and is currently the Chief of Pharmacy at the VA in Ann Arbor.
Tim resides in Lansing with his wife Marla, and 5 children (two of which are Eagle Scouts) and has three grandchildren.
We are honored to have an individual with Tim’s knowledge, experience, and temperament, filling this important role in our council. We know he will serve our organization with great tenacity and enthusiasm.
