“The most worth-while thing is to try to put happiness into the lives of others.”
Robert Baden-Powell, founder of Scouting

Doing service projects together is one way that Scouts keep their promise “to help other people.” While a Scout should do their best to help other people every day, a group service project is a bigger way to help people. While you’re giving service, you’re learning to work together with others to do something that’s good for your community.

Generally, service projects are done at the unit or district level. Below is a list of statewide service opportunities that your unit can engage in!

Projects will be assigned the day of, and materials will be provided.

Continental breakfast, bag lunch provided, and patch provided at no cost. Registration is required.

SCOUTING FOR FOOD

Scouts across our council collected over 110,000 pounds of food in 2021!  Help us make an even bigger impact in 2022.  The 2022 drive will take place on Saturday, November 5 (flyer distribution) and Saturday, November 12 (food collection).  There is no cost to participate.  Your Scouting unit can find more information and sign up for the project at https://michiganscouting.org/scoutingforfood/

Scouting for Food is an ongoing annual program of the Boy Scouts of America begun in 1985. The program involves collecting for local food banks. It is organized at the local level throughout the country. Scouting for Food is a project rooted in the very foundation of the Scouting movement and its dedication to implement the Scout Slogan (good turn daily).

Dates:  November 4th – Flyer Distribution, November 11th – Food Collection
