The Saginaw Whitney M. Young, Jr. Service Award Presentation is the premier event of Saginaw County and honors area leaders who influence the professional community while also serving as exemplary role models for greater Saginaw-area youth.

Your participation in this event directly impacts a community inclusion program for high-risk youth in the Saginaw area called ScoutReach.  This program serves Saginaw’s vulnerable youth to share in the merits of traditional Scouting.  Mentors prepare their Scouts to be responsible citizens while learning about principles and causes beyond themselves.  Your support helps build self-esteem, core values, and character development in our children, and makes possible high quality outdoor adventures for area youth.

BUILDING CHARACTER CELEBRATION – SOUTH

The Building Character Celebration was born from decades of annual recognition events honoring the highest youth achievers in the Scouting program, Eagle Scout and Summit Award recipients.   This gala style dinner event honors and recognizes the 2023 Class of Eagle Scouts and Summit Award Recipients. The evening is capped with our honored guest and Keynote Speaker, still to be determined, who will share a message for our Scouting Family.

ON MY HONOR GALA

The On My Honor Gala is a formal community-facing special event and serves as an annual highlight of Scouting programs for the public each year.  The 2024 event will feature Executive Partners and Principals from nationwide professional services firms engaged in a panel discussion on leadership, community stewardship, and building our future. The event will further feature a local Scout conveying their Scouting story and the impact the program has had.

VENUE: The event will take place at the Troy Marriott: 200 W Big Beaver Rd, Troy, MI 48084

Doors and reception are at 6:00pm, with the formal dinner event beginning at  6:45pm.

EAGLE RECOGNITION DINNER

The Eagle Recognition Dinner is capstone annual youth recognition event that honors the accomplishments of one of our most important groups: our young men and women who have achieved Scouting’s highest ranks and awards, the Eagle Scout Rank, Venturing Summit Award, and Sea Scouting Quartermaster. Scouts and their families are invited to this touching banquet on the evening of May 29, 2024 at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, MI, where they will hear
from a successful Scouting Alumnus. A unique feature of this dinner is that Scouts will be paired with an adult mentor who shares a similar vocation within the Scouts’ future career interests. They have time throughout the night to discuss their hope for the future and gain guidance to someone who has proven themselves within the industry.

ANNUAL BUILDING CONNECTIONS NETWORKING EVENT

Building Connections, a networking event for construction professionals, is the largest annual gathering of the construction community in Southeast Michigan, providing a unique opportunity for informal business and social interaction while supporting the Scouting program for area youth and their families. In conjunction with the Construction Association of Michigan, the Executive Committee of Building Connections is pleased to offer this opportunity to network, socialize, and support a worthy cause with all members of the industry from general contractors, subcontractors, and developers to architects, designers, engineers, and a multitude of vendors.

The award is presented to those who exemplify the ideals of the Boy Scouts of America in their daily lives as expressed in the Scout Oath and Law. Recipients are chosen for their outstanding community service as evidenced by the interest and leadership given to many worthwhile organizations as well as the respect and esteem in which they are held by their colleagues.

This marquee event recognizes individuals of extraordinary character who embody the ideals of the Scout Oath and Scout Law in their everyday lives while making significant contributions to the communities in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties.

THE LEADERSHIP DINNER

Leadership is a lifelong quest. For decades strong caring leadership has been at the core of our wonderful region’s growth and quality of life. Enhancing a culture of leadership among our citizens will enrich our communities in multiple ways. Join us for our annual community gathering to celebrate, recognize, and learn about leadership. Our evening begins with a social reception, followed by dinner and program. Each year we will celebrate, meet new friends, and network with other leaders from all corners of our community. During dinner we will recognize local leaders for their great impact, showcasing leadership in action in our community today. Together, we will learn from a distinguished guest on their insights on leadership. Proceeds from the event will help all children in our community gain access to the leadership programs of the Boy Scouts of America here in Michigan, and the leadership programs for all children K-12 at Adventure Point.

Please join us for the sporting clays classic, the premier shooting event in West Michigan, at the Kent County Conservation League. Join us for a day of shooting games, lunch, ammunition and gun cleaning. Following the shooting sports fun, guests will have an opportunity to enter a silent auction and raffle during a social hour. This social hour will offer hor d’oeuvres, premium beverages and cigars followed by dinner. All proceeds from this event will benefit the over 12,000 young men and women in President Ford Division.

ANNUAL SHOOTING STARS

The Shooting Stars Sporting Clays Invitational is an annual 100-clay tournament held at the Detroit Gun Club. Hundreds of participants gather for fun and shooting at one of the largest one-day charity shoots in the country. All the shells needed for sporting clays, trap, skeet, and 5-stand are provided. The event includes breakfast, lunch, and a reception following the day’s competition featuring an open bar and hors d’oeuvres. The reception will conclude with the awards presentation and a raffle.

The Fulfilling the Dream Celebrity Open has been established to directly address the needs of our youth and community. The Open is inspired by Wayman Britt and business leaders throughout West Michigan, and will feature PGA Professionals, local and national celebrities, as well as the best local food, games, and fun that can be had on a golf course.

Bringing together our community in an immersive way will lead to better understanding, learning, networking, friendships, business partners and more. Celebrating diversity while creating an environment that breeds true inclusion leads to growth for us all. Proceeds from the Open will help increase the capacity of youth serving organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America, that are dedicated to our most vulnerable minority youth. In addition to golf, the event will feature a recognition dinner to highlight exemplary community leaders who have lifted up youth of color in the Grand Rapids area.

Funds raised at the Prepared for Life Breakfast will stay locally in Jackson County supporting the youth in local Scouting programs. Reservations are required to attend. Tickets are no cost, but there will be an ask for support of Scouting near the conclusion of the event.
